Jennifer Heemstra returned to Kolkata with American soprano Chelsea Quoyne to present “All That Jazz,” a concert program within the Kolkata Classics concert series. As documented in Serenade Magazine, the performances took place across Kala Mandir, the Newtown School, and the Hyatt Regency, presenting a program that combined American repertoire, Broadway selections, jazz standards, and operatic works.
The program included John Legend’s “All of Me,” selections from Chicago, West Side Story, Evita, and Porgy and Bess, along with operatic repertoire such as “Nessun Dorma.” Coyne’s vocal range and theatrical delivery were paired with Heemstra’s precise and expressive piano performance, creating a program that moved fluidly between genres and performance styles.
Despite a demanding schedule and minimal rehearsal time, the performances were described as emotionally engaging and technically strong, reaching audiences ranging from schoolchildren to formal gala attendees. The series concluded with outreach performances, including a program at the Calcutta International School and a concert explicitly supporting anti–human trafficking efforts, reinforcing a commitment to both artistic excellence and socially engaged cultural work.
